September/October pictures

Tyler turned 7 last month. He got a nintendo DS for his birthday after saving his money all summer long --He's wanted one ever since our Bear Lake family reunion.
I like to think that there are some things that I am good at-- like organizing, scrapbooking, cleaning, etc..
But cake decorating is definitely NOT one of them. This is the cake I made for Tyler's birthday. I had to take a picture of it because of how horrible it turned out. This is why I buy cakes or have friends make them for me. I'm just no good at it. I don't know why... I try really hard sometimes. My sister-in-law, Amy, once made a volcano cake that erupted for her son's birthday. I can't even get mine to be completely covered with frosting. Luckily, at this point in their lives, my kids don't care. Thank goodness for that.

Love this picture of Austin on his tippie toes... looks like he is trying to escape.

Went in to check on Makenzie one night before I went to bed and this is how I found her. The next night she was sleeping on the floor. Wierd.

First day of school picture.

We just got back yesterday from a day-trip to yosemite. It included 6 hours of driving, 5 restroom breaks, 4 hikes, 3 waterfalls, 2 exhausted parents, and one very happy baby in a hiking backpack.
Here we are in front of upper and lower Yosemite falls.

Mike and half-dome.

Tyler took this picture of Mike and I. This is why we were exhausted- carrying this 25 pounder around all-day.

It was beautiful though. Can't wait to go again in early summer.
Earlier this month we went to the Tidepools at Half Moon Bay to see if we could find any creatures. This is one of Tyler and Makenzie's favorite things to do and we love it because it's free and not too far away. We found crabs, sea urchins, starfish, anemonies, and fish.

Ty and Kenzie with the first starfish they found.

LOVE this picture that Mike took of Austin climbing through a tube we have. Cool.
