Colton Wendell Droubay

Colton joined our family on July 14th at 9:20 in the morning. He didn't make the turn and remained head-up to the end. After a full night of contractions in the hospital and one last attempt by the doctor to turn him, Melanie had her first C-Section and we got a beautiful baby boy. He weighed in at 6 pounds 7 ounces and was 19 inches long. Like the rest of our kids, he has old-man hair that will likely get cut off once we get home. So far, he has been golden--never crying (except during his bath) and eating and sleeping like a champ. I'll leave it to Melanie to tell the full story later but in the mean time here are some pictures. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers--Mike

Kenzie was the most excited to have Colton here--maybe we can train her to take care of him at night? I'm sure that there are no child endangerment issues there.

No luck!

Well, the version attempt yesterday was unsuccessful. The doctor was almost able to turn the baby around but then he just flipped right back to where he's most comfortable..... head up. They were going to try a second time but his heartrate went down after the first time. I don't think the baby was too happy about what we were trying to do. So.... we'll have to wait a bit and see if he either turns on his own or my doctor might try another version again at the beginning of next week. This little stinker boy is causing me trouble!!

Little stinker

I went to my doctor's appointment this week and this baby boy is STILL breech-- the little stinker. I didn't think he was going to turn just because he has been in this same position for as long as I can remember. He must be comfortable there. We scheduled an appointment to go in to the hospital next Tuesday for my doctor to try to turn him so we'll just keep our fingers crossed that it goes well. This is definitely adding some excitement (and stress) to these last couple of weeks.

Fun with old friends

The Eyre's stopped by for a night on their way from California to North Carolina. It was so fun to get the kids together and see them... even if it was only a short visit. It was funny to see Jackson and Austin trying to get along. My kids have been so excited for them to come and stay for a night. The kids had a big sleepover downstairs and the girls spent a good portion of the night putting together a dance recital for us. So cute!!

Makenzie still talks about her friends in California that she misses-- especially Brooke.

Tyler's Tang stand

The other day Tyler came up to me with the idea that he wanted to make a lemonade stand . Unfortunately, we didn't have any lemonade so he decided on some "Tang". Somehow he convinced Makenzie to get in on the plan and together they set out to try to make some money. It started out as just Tang and honestly, I thought Mike and I would be the only customers. But apparently 10 cents a cup and 5 cents a refill sounded like a good deal to our neighborhood kids because soon they were swarming the stand.

That's when Tyler came in and told me he needed some cookies and brownies to sell. Hours later he and Makenzie had sold all their cookies, brownies and Tang to 41 customers each making over $6. Not bad. Unfortunately, now Tyler thinks he wants to set up a stand every week selling different things.
We'll see what he comes up with next.
